Reporters Without Borders

The truth wins. For the campaign initiated by DDB Germany and Reporters Without Borders, we designed a short documentary about the Turkish journalist Can Dündar. Can reported on illegal arms deliveries by the Turkish intelligence service to Islamist extremists in Syria and was sentenced to 27 years and six months in prison in Turkey for this. Today, the reporter lives with his family in exile in Berlin and still works on behalf of the truth every single day. Among other things, he manages the bilingual website and radio station Özgürüz (“we are free”). Our short film tries to bring to life what it feels like to fight for the truth. We tell of his very personal story, his resistances and his inner world. The story remains deliberately ambivalent and paints the portrait of a courageous man.
